FROM LOS ANGELES TO GRAVETHORNE
A classroom dare sends Kayel Mori to a mysterious signal tower in Los Angeles. His classmates’ setup becomes something real: the tower activates, police close in, and a resonance portal opens.
Kayel runs through it into Gravethorne. Here, survival depends on alignment—the exact meeting of position, timing, and intention. He must learn when to act, when to hold, and when to release.
But the Wrong allows things to continue without completing that alignment. The world Kayel is learning to survive contains possibilities its own order cannot explain.
Kayel’s opening journey · Scroll or swipe to explore →

A classroom challenge sends Kayel toward the signal tower.

Outside, his classmates hand him the dare. They have already called the police.

Kayel reaches the tower as police lights close in and impossible energy gathers.

The setup becomes clear. The tower’s activation, however, is real.

A resonance portal tears open around the tower’s base.

With police behind him and a portal ahead, Kayel runs.

He lands in an unfamiliar world. His journey with the Hum begins.
THE PEOPLE AT THE CENTER

An outsider from Los Angeles, learning the exact moment to act.
A student at Central Axis Tech School, Kayel notices inefficiencies before others do. A signal-tower portal displaces him into Gravethorne, where he learns through experience and adjustment.
His defining ability is HOLD: sustaining exact alignment under pressure, then releasing before it becomes stillness. The challenge is recognizing the moment, rather than controlling the Hum.

A recrafter whose forge, garden, and restorative work sustain the village.
Vendra is the only known cultivator of Emberroot in Gravethorne Village. Her combined forge and garden connect structural work with carefully regulated heat.
As Ember Warden of the Rebirth Ward, she uses Emberroot and controlled ignition to stabilize people affected by severe destabilization. Her work follows the Phoenix’s principle of contained transformation.

An independent weaponsmith who teaches through structure and use.
Riven once led the Practitioners of the Hum. He now works outside village control at Riven’s Temple, a forge near the ascent toward the Ruined Colosseum.
His craft, Synthesization, resolves materials into a functional form that can hold. He gives Kayel an unfinished weapon and allows him to learn through failure, adjustment, and direct interaction.

Trained by the Shade Farmer to allow continuation within contradiction.
Malrec Segia neither pursues alignment nor needs completion. His training teaches him to let contradiction continue instead of correcting it.
Where Kayel learns to hold, Malrec Segia allows. Controlled purple energy remains close to his hands, responding to the instability he engages with. His presence challenges what the system can classify.

Rejected by the Hum at birth, yet still growing and adapting.
The son of Paroxus Shiba, Ceico is a living paradox: the first known case of the Wrong taking full root. His eyes shift between black and violet, and he bears no alignment marks.
He first appears in THE WRONG, saving Vendra from Ember Kois at the Reservoir. His path later leads to the Rejecters and the Rejected Arena.
AN ATLAS OF GRAVETHORNE
Moonlit open fields and the territory of the Night Stag.
A volcanic crater and the nesting place of Phoenix.
A forge and Emberroot garden connected to Vendra’s recrafting and restorative work. The Wyvern’s descent reaches this place.
Riven’s independent forge near the ascent to the Ruined Colosseum. A place of Synthesization and practical work.
Deep waters where Leviathan waits below the surface.
An ancient structure tied to Kronos and later struggles over continuation.
A convergence point where the paths of the first journey meet.
The Chargelands, Static Reef, Indigo Jungle, Hidden Quartz, and the Dark Crest extend the saga’s geography.
SEVEN DEITIES · SEVEN DOMAINS

THE PURGE DEITY
Cycles of fire and transformation shape its domain. After crest extraction, it reforms through Regestation.

THE TIDAL DEITY
The pressure enforcer of the deep. Its threshold holds the ocean’s movement in check.

THE QUAKE DEITY
An enduring presence at the center of the ruins, testing endurance under unchanging pressure.

THE GALE DEITY
A deity of absolute direction, with movement suspended before completion.

THE ABSOLUTION DEITY
Patron of Gravethorne’s founders, embodying their ideal of an indestructible society through perfect alignment.

THE THRESHOLD DEITY
Determines passage through correctness. The threshold opens when its condition is met.

THE MODULAR DEITY
A living reconstruction engine that replaces and reorganizes structure toward stability.
Choose a term to learn how it works.
The moment when position, timing, and intention resolve without deviation. The Hum occurs at that exact meeting; it is not a persistent force someone can command.
Maintaining alignment after reaching it, even as conditions change. HOLD requires exactness under pressure and can fail when that precision shifts.
What remains when alignment is approached without being completed. The Wrong allows continuation without correctness and outcomes that should not resolve.
The condition in which correction stops, movement ends, and alignment is no longer possible. It is the termination of function.
Constructing a functional form by resolving material into a state that can hold. Riven uses it in weapons and structured tools; imprecision leaves the result unstable.
Refining an existing structure through corrected alignment. Associated with Vendra and Emberroot, it responds to damage, misalignment, and incomplete formation.
Stopping a process before it resolves, creating an opening without collapse or stillness. It halts an unstable process rather than repairing it.
Denying resolution after it has begun. This breaks a system during completion and introduces instability and consequences.
The process through which a crest or deity reforms after extraction. Function returns over time, although identity may not return exactly as it was.
FOLLOW THE STORY
Begin with THE HUM, then follow the numbered sequence. THE WRONG is book two and a prequel to Kayel’s arrival.
A dare. A signal. Another world.
A dare sends Los Angeles student Kayel Mori to a signal tower. A portal carries him to Gravethorne, where technology gives way to the HUM. With Riven Aldrich as his guide, Kayel must learn alignment and face the trials of Phoenix, Leviathan, and Kronos.
Before Kayel. Before certainty.
This prequel follows Riven, Malrec Segia, and Vendra before Kayel’s arrival. Riven trusts alignment, Malrec Segia questions its limits, and Vendra stands between them. What happens to everything the system cannot accept?
The paths begin to converge.
Fractures across the Axis call Kayel back. Wrongdoers distort alignment, Crests become corrupted, and the Reservoir loses its purity. The Concycle and the path of Goliath draw him toward a struggle over control and continuation.
What continues after an ending?
The Chargelands, Static Reef, and the Indigo Jungle open new paths through a changing world. Kayel’s work at Riven’s Temple becomes the Omnicon, while Vendra searches for answers about her father and Ceico’s influence grows.
Resistance becomes a movement.
Ceico Shiba challenges the HUM’s demands as a fractured world approaches another transformation. The Ruined Colosseum, forbidden continuation, and changing deities push the conflict beyond survival into the question of who gets to decide what comes next.
Power must become endurance.
Kayel returns from the Dark Crest to a world of shifting alliances, ancient waters, and political tensions. The origins of Gravethorne and its Crests come into focus as Ceico’s rejection movement gathers force.
The former Saga website connected its lore to a wider interactive world: the Concycle, HUM Battlefield, Crestbound cards, a Manga Vault, and activities shaped by alignment.
These are parts of the former web experience. The separate THE HUM RPG has playable development demos on itch.io.
